Submissions
Our current guidelines
We are currently closed for submissions. Watch out for our next submission window in late Spring, 2026.
We’re Frazzled Lit, the best (in our humble opinion) online literary journal for sparky and exciting short stories, poetry, flash fiction, and CNF.
In 2024, we were voted No. 5 in the Chill Subs Community Favourite Lit Mags that publish flash fiction.
In 2025, we were voted No. 9 in the Chill Subs ‘Greatest Editors’ list of the best lit mags around.
We have featured the work of international award winning authors such as Nuala O’Connor and Dave Butler, flash wizards such as Tommy Dean and Matt Kendrick, and also writers for whom their Frazzled Lit piece was their first appearance in the literary world.
We are fair, and free for ordinary submissions to regular issues. Our editing approach is collaborative and collegiate, and we want you to feel involved in the process.
We’ll admit, our editorial standards are high – we publish only the best – but if we accept your work, we will sing about it from the rooftops!
Come join the Frazzled Lit family – the water’s warm!
Specific Guidelines
Please take note of the word and line counts. These are strict limits.
Short stories (up to 2,500 words)
Flash Fiction (up to two pieces of 550 words each)
Poetry (up to three pieces of 40 lines each)
CNF (up to 3,000 words)
Per reading period, writers may submit:
One short story
One CNF piece
Three poems
Two flash pieces
You may submit to more than one category per window.
All submissions must be made via Duosuma.
We read blind here at Frazzled Lit so please don’t include your author name in the file name or document.
Cover letters are optional. A bio is optional, but if you do include one, make it max 100 words, and third-person.
We prefer documents in Times New Roman, 12 pt, double or 1.5 spaced.
Please allow us up to 60 days after the closing date for us to inform you if we have accepted your work for publication. You will usually hear from us much sooner.
Each submission i.e. each poem and each flash fiction piece, should be submitted as a separate document. This will help you in the event you wish to withdraw one piece, and will help us with the review process.
Publication Rights
Frazzled Lit holds first serial publication rights for three months after publication. This means that by accepting publication, writers agree not to publish, authorise or permit the publication of any part of the material for three months following first publication by Frazzled Lit. For reprints, we ask only that you credit us as the first publication.
What We Don’t Like
We are an unthemed publication and happy to read work on any subject, however Frazzled Lit will not enjoy work that is racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, ableist or is hateful towards any person or group. Further, we do not wish to read anything that is gratuitously violent or erotic, or contains excessive gore. Animal cruelty of any sort is not acceptable to us.
It goes without saying but we’re saying it anyway:
Frazzled Lit will not tolerate work that is generated by AI.
All submissions should be made via Duosuma.
